Travelling through Asia

I spent Christmas and New Year in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam.  Eleven flights in three weeks, I am not sure how relaxing it was, but it was incredibly inspiring and stimulating.  I took 900 pictures but below are just a few of the edits.

Skirts worn by the Hmong tribe in Northern Laos.  I happened to have the same one bought at Portobello.

We are in awe of this incredible pendant by Italian designer Romeo Rega, which we spotted in the window at one of our neighbours’, Pruskin Gallery at 96 Portland Road, W11.

We are working on the Shropshire/Welsh border for very old friends of mine who have moved into his family home.  A hugely ambitious scheme to turn the house into a wedding venue is set to pay off with over 20 weddings booked for the next 12 months.  The first wedding is May 1 and the house is a frantic scramble to get to the finishing line.  We are re decorating the entire house, installing new bathrooms throughout as well as building an extension, collaborating with the architects, contractors and suppliers.

A cottage all of my own

I have taken the big leap and bought this house in Oxfordshire with my friend and brilliant developer James Perkins.  It’s going to be comfortable, modern and adorable. We are currently experiencing the usual fun and games, delayed planning permission and heavy snow falls but we’ll be back on track soon.

I love this concept store in Paris, it’s immaculately executed. With cafe, florist, perfumery, bookstore, home and fashion it’s a half day excursion.  Jasper Morrison Vitra chairs sit with reclaimed tables, vintage three legged stools, organic cloths and industrial lighting.  Created by the former owners of French children’s label Bonpoint, some top brands names Isabel Marant, Marni, Paul & Joe, YSL and many more are fore going their profit margin to charities in Madagascar.  The charity book section, is inspired by New York cafes where you can hang out with a cup of tea and read.  All the books are donated and are second hand.  This shop is luxury and gives back.

Maison et Objet

A two day trip to Paris to Maison et Objet, the bi annual interiors exhibition, left us inspired, a little more educated, hopefully a little thinner and a tiny bit more chic.  Check out our behind the scenes section over the next few weeks to see our pick of the bunch.

I love the Paris based accessories company called Eno. Well designed, thoughtful products.  The kitchen pencil by Sebastian Bergne is an easy favourite.  Witty, charming and useful.

Mad about wall clocks

These fun wall clocks from Italian company Diamantini & Domeniconi caught my eye.  Made from thin aluminium sheets, contrasting hour and minute hands against a gently concave face. www.diamantinidomeniconi.it

I have long been a fan of Michael’s work.  Now sold through Sigmar in London Michael has added the mobile chandelier to his collection.  A constantly moving chandelier, no chance of getting bored with this ever changing piece.  I also love the ball vase in bronze, a witty take on the bowling ball. www.sigmarlondon.com

I love these felt bags made from merino wool by German company daff feel filz.  A great natural material, use them as shown, as log baskets, as your market shop bag or for recycling.  www.daff-feelfilz.de
